5 Quick Things #212 π
Astronomers, pine-needle beermakers, & fall-ified homemakers
Hey there!
Itβs a beautiful morning here in central Texas and I just walked in the door from a nice, long morning walk with the doggo. The kids have an all-day school event (and the oldest can drive themselves there!) and Iβve lit the candle that nobody else in the family likes, so letβs just say Iβm enjoying the quiet in the house. Iβve got a magazine article due in a few hours, followed by Cigar Club followed by lunch with my aunt, so itβs a full-but-in-a-good-way day over here.
Howβs your day? Iβm grateful for you reading this βΒ thanks for being here.

5 Quick Things βοΈ
1.Β πΒ New episode of A Drink With a Friend!Β πΒ In the last episode, Seth and I talked about what makes the art we love fall-ish. In this one we chat about the flip side of that coin: what makes the creating of that art fall-ish (thereβs writing and music-making, but thereβs also homemaking, neighborliness, and doing our work well as forms of artistic expression). What does it look like to do these things as the leaves drop?
2.Β βAll social media companies want teens to use their services. We are no different.β Facebookβs demographic continues to skew older, and man if I donβt hate what social media does to our adolescents. More data to convince you itβs not a good idea for our kids.
3.Β Nodded my way through last weekβs Jesuitical episode with βthe popeβs astronomerβ about how people of faith should holistically approach current science. Plus, tons of hobbit references, so, win!
4.Β Oh my goodness, I love this so, so much.
5.Β And finally, βI work for a company that makes beer taste like pine needles that have been soaking in a vat of apple cider vinegar for thirty years.β A typical Oregon Friday, as imagined by my east coast friends. (And imagined by Texans.)

βDelicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns.β
