5 Quick Things, #132 🌿
Daily walks, learning to draw + dance + write, golden hours, & dancing puppies
Hey there,
My, my, my goodness… What a week, eh? For the first time since I started writing this weekly email, I think it’s somewhat safe to say that no matter where you are in the world, most of experienced a similar week: social distancing, keeping up with the latest news without going crazy, and doing our best to make the most of it all.
I’ve spent time on the phone canceling flights (I had three on the horizon), rescheduling upcoming appointments, prepping to teach my English class via Zoom for the foreseeable future, and working with my kids on some semblance of a routine. And most important to my sanity: neighborhood walks with the kids, every afternoon. Something similar in your world, too? Solidarity. 👊
5 Quick Things ☕️
1. This is so important: Katherine shares her thoughts on talking with kids about the coronavirus.
2. Nature as comfort during tumultuous times. This, this, this.
3. This week on The Good List, I’m sharing an idea to add to your (new?) daily routine that may help spark contentment, even right now.
4. Earlier this week I sent you an essay about why it’s good we need each other right now — and what it’s teaching me about my tendency to complain.
5. I’ve loved seeing so many artists reach out with their talents! Next week author Shawn Smucker is offering a free 20-minute writing class for teens, illustrator Wendy MacNaughton hosts a live Instagram drawing class every 10 am PST, artist Mo Willems is leading daily lunchtime doodle sessions, and Debbie Allen is teaching dance lessons via Instagram Live. What a world, right?
Quotable 💬
“I'm starting to think this world is just a place for us to learn that we need each other more than we want to admit.”
― Richelle E. Goodrich
Time Machine ⏰
Four years ago, I wrote about a spontaneous day trip we now take every spring. (I so hope we can do this again this year — it’s such a balm.)
Have a good weekend — and keep washing those hands,

p.s. I dare you to not smile at this.
Hi Tsh, I just subcribed - yay!! My wife and I are so fortunate in that our business is not going to be affected. We have a historic preservation business and have a backlog of work. Also we live in the country in beautiful Vermont so we can get outside (when spring comes), eat from our vegetable garden and work on our house. Lucky, lucky lucky. I really enjoy your work so thank you for the nudge to become a subscriber. Take care :) Susannah
