A lovely space for us to converse and connect
Since I can't respond to your chat because I have an Android...
I am in Centerville, Utah, about 15 minutes north of Salt Lake City. And the last book I finished was Drew Barrymore's memoir of several years back, Wildflower.
Hi, I’m Elizabeth, currently based in Moldova. The last book I finished was The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August by Claire North. I read it for book club and it’s not my usual genre, but I couldn’t put it down.
I too am an Android user. Silver Lake, KS is where I call home. A bedroom community 7 miles NW of Topeka. I just finished, Trejo: My Life of Crime, Redemption, and Hollywood by Danny Trejo
I am Sharon Crooks and I live in Bastrop, LA. The last book I read was The Sea of Tranquility.
👋 Another Android user here! I live in Lansing, Michigan - about an hour and a half east of Lake Michigan. The last book I read was *checks Goodreads* Fat Luther, Slim Pickin's: A Black Catholic Celebration of Faith, Tradition, and Diversity.
I’m Meredith Davis in Austin, TX and I was just reading the picture book Bear’s Last Smile by Ellen Tarlow, illustrated by Lauren Stringer and the middle grade Chester Keene Cracks the Code by Kekla Magoon (research for my work, great book!)
Dorothy in Ocala, Florida here. It’s central, central FL: 90 miles to Orlando, Tampa, or either coast. Weathered Hurricane Ian in Ormond Beach, on the Atlantic coast, just north of Daytona. Never afraid but v.e.r.y respectful of the storm.
I was excited to begin The Red Tent by Anita Diamant but have set it aside for now because of unexpected amount of sexual content. I finished The Poisonwood Bible and it’s probably the only book my husband and I adamantly disagreed about (he hated it while I was intrigued by the author’s exploration of the differences in the sisters’ outcomes)
Reading from while visiting Birmingham AL and live in Starkville MS.
In October reread Sue Monk Kid’s The Secret Life of Bees for book club (several had not read it and those of us who had insisted that they do so Immediately!). Currently reading Out of Texas by Joseph Townsend and Anne Hart Preus because Anne’s a friend, co-wrote it and is coming as a guest to our next meeting.
Elizabeth from Springfield, MO.
I finished “A King’s Story: The Memoirs of the Duke of Windsor” over the weekend.
I borrowed it through our library from an out-of-town university right after Queen Elizabeth’s death. I have read a number of books on Winston Churchill, so this was an interesting read that filled in a few blanks.
Hi Tsh! I'm excited to join chats when it's available for Android (I, too, am a 'droid ;-) ). Thanks so much for expressing your interest in a web-based version of the chat. I would *also* much prefer to use it on a desktop rather than a phone (I also try to stay off my phone as much as I can).
As for me: I'm based just outside of Portland, Oregon. The last print book I finished was "What W. H. Auden Can Do For You" By Alexander McCall Smith (inspired by the last print book I finished before that, "Friends, Lovers, Chocolate" from McCall Smith's Isabel Dalhousie mystery series). And the last audiobook I read (because I always have one of those going too) was "The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes" with Simon Prebble as the narrator.
I am Jennifer Hitchcock and I live in Ainsworth, NE. The last book I finished was Strange Weather in Tokyo by Hiromi Kawasaki.
Glenda in San Angelo, Texas
My most recent finish was Fox Creek by William Kent Krueger. It's the first I've read of his Cork O'Connor series and I thoroughly enjoyed it and plan to read the whole series.
Count me in for a web-based version of the chat!
I live in Leesburg, VA and the last book I finished was The German Wife.
Hi! I’m Annie from rural central Louisiana. The last book I finished was Jacqueline in Paris by Ann Mah. Currently reading Tranquility by Tuesday by Laura Vanderkam & The Splendid & The Vile by Erik Larson.
Hi, I’m Katie from Harrisburg, PA. I’ve been slowly savoring Tish Harrison Warren’s Liturgy of the Ordinary and Prayer in the Night and I’m rereading Rosamunde Pilcher’s The Shell Seekers.
I’m in Charlotte, NC and the last book I read was The Invisible Life of Addie Larue.
