I feel like an addendum to my response for the poll should be that I have an artificial tree because I have a cat that likes to eat plants (and the oils from firs can apparently irritate a cat’s stomach). Were she not a plant-eater I’d definitely have a real one!
That Rockwell perfectly captures the feeling I had as a little girl when my parents had guests over and I was meant to be tucked up in bed.
