Tsh, how's it going with the Wisephone/Lightphone? (I can't recall which one you ordered.) I would love to hear an update as moving to a dumb phone is something I've been mulling over for a couple of years.
We did order one and have first given it to our older son! It's been a great fit for him so far. He has access to Spotify, maps, a good camera, group texts, etc. but no internet. So far so good!
I sent your daughter's article to my college granddaughters. It IS easier to act your way into new behaviors than think your way. I was a college counselor at Saint Mary's College Notre Dame Indiana. We used to tell students to "act as if they were confident, strong, fearless, etc" and the feelings would follow. It works!
Tallow balm is a miracle salve. You’re reminding me that I really need to make some more (it’s also excellent diaper/all purpose baby cream if you leave the essential oils out). I made calendula oil with some of the flowers I dehydrated from our garden last year (very easy, you just dry gently and then soak them in olive oil for a long time) and that mixed with the tallow was excellent. Our skin is not quite as needy here in NC, but it’s amazing that you can make an “expensive” product at home so easily. I gave small jars for Christmas gifts a couple years ago and it was a hit :)
Thanks for the love, Tsh - I'm always here to bring back these feast days with ya!
Also, your daughter's editorial is SO RELATABLE...as a practiced overthinker, I decided to take a hint from Nike and go with the "Just do it" mentality the past couple years. And it's true - theory only gets us so far!
We’re 3 months into a travel year with our 12 and 15 year old. We did it once when they were younger and knew this was our last chance to do it again. I absolutely agree that it’s the little things that matter to them the most - even as a tween and teen. The place with the jumpy trampoline place, the steak dinner a friend made, the pool with the water slide. Your book about your travels, that I read 5 years ago is one of my favorites about what a year like this means.
Tatum’s article is so timely! I forwarded it to a friend’s daughter who’s in college. She is having so much trouble deciding what to do with her life. Praying she finds her way.
What a thrill it must be to see your daughter spreading her wings, with wisdom in her heart and a pen in her hand ...

Jumping into the tallow lotion party here! That stuff is INCREDIBLE.
