Good morning, Tsh - #4, yes please!

I'm slowly taking anything of value from my old Blogger days, dusting it off and re-imagining those words, and then publishing the refreshed version on Substack. This is working well, especially during those weeks when my inner writing well is a bit dry.

Speaking of Substack, I'm featuring you on today's PORCH -

Enjoy.

Hi Tsh! Listening to the Fr. Mike video and it's reminding me of a song by Andy Squyres called "God the Fool," in a particular way this lyric --

"For the snow upon the mountain, melting into the sea // I will sit with you in silence and listen to you breathe // I will ask you all my questions, I will waste all of your time // You don't give the poet answers so the poet gives you rhymes // What kind of mad man are you, taking on the worst of odds // I'm chalking up my fortunes to your foolishness oh God."

All that to say, this was the kick in the pants I needed to sit in the silence more. Thank you!!

Ooh, I really needed to read these lyrics right now — thank you for sharing them, Chloe!

His entire "Poet Priest" album is my go-to during hard seasons. I haven't found a lot of worship music that holds the tension between surrender to the Lord's will and the just-plain-hard of suffering...but this one does. It reminds me quite a bit of the Psalms, the "How long oh Lord...." or "But I can be sure that..." lines that I also hold onto.

Off to listen right now!

I quote you so often my husband says: "your friend Tsh again." If we were younger and up for travel we would do a pilgrimage with you. Yes, bring Art of Simple to substack please. I started following you back then and after your blue bike book.

Re: #4 I’d love to read some of your earlier pieces on simplicity! While not a new insight for me this Lent, I am struggling with this part of my own Rule.

Hi Tsh, I first came across your work over a decade ago when I awoke to the fact that simplicity was necessary but conspicuously absent from my life. After years, it's still a 'now and not yet' aspect for me . . . so, yes, I would love to see portions of Art of Simple live on!
