I'm curious how you would describe ordinary time. In my mind, there are many traditions and rituals that define Advent, Christmas Lent, Easter, etc. What rituals and routines are traditionally associated with ordinary time? Or what are modern rituals we could embrace during ordinary time?

I want to learn so much more about the Lit Cal (trying to be cool!) but, don't know where to start. I grew up in the Church of Christ and we actually had advent candles but, I could not tell you anything about them. Your book arrived last week and can't wait to dive into it. Are there any other book recommendations you could recommend?

Yes, I would LOVE a list of book recs on the liturgical calendar as well!! I've been thinking about this before you even sent this out but feel overwhelmed every time I go to look for resources. :) In addition to your book, of course!

I got your book last year! I don’t even know what question to ask about the Lit Cal but I know I need to know more!

Yeah for this upcoming season! Your book is lovely. Learning about the liturgical calendar changed Christmas for me. I don't feel rushed to cram *everything* in December before Christmas; the perspective of preparation helped me slow down. I've also started scheduling things during the days of Christmas when we're all home on breaks from school and work. I really want to have a Twelfth Night party this year. I wish our culture still celebrated that way -- a focus on fun & gathering instead of a focus on buying stuff before Dec. 25th.

I don't know what I don't know out about the liturgical calendar so I'm not even sure what to ask. The only other calendar I know of where religious celebrations follow a seasonal rhythm is the Jewish holiday cycle. Is there any link between those holidays and what is celebrated on the Christian liturgical calendar?

Have you thought about making a Lit Cal wall calendar for others to purchase (or know of someone who already does)? I would find it refreshing to have a visual reminder Lit Cal to follow throughout the year rather than the traditional 12 month wall calendars.
