What does it mean that the internet isn't what we think it is?
There are many reasons I like having the internet around. I like it most when it can facilitate real community- especially face to face. I like it least when it is used to build an anemic, farce of a community, at least in my own life. It’s use as a tool to oppress and exploit is even more icky.
It is important for me to rightly order my engagements in communities and prioritize the in person stuff.
In small world news, the first time you mentioned Myles Werntz, I thought that name sounded so familiar- yep. His wife, Sarah, and I earned our MSW’s the same year from Baylor. She was dating him at the time and I remember his name coming up in conversation.
