I started reading your blog right out of college at my first job (that was very slow) when you had littles and I wasn’t even married. I have a love for travel & other cultures which I think is why I originally resonated with you. Now I’m almost 40 with an almost 13 year old, 11 and 9 year old. I feel like it’s helped to keep me grounded along the way in life. Thank you ❤️
I found your travel books 5+ years ago when I was discovering how much I love travel memoirs. I started following your blog then and several years later was thrilled when your family became Catholic. Ever since then I’ve read your posts faithfully because they achieve just the right note of practical advice, humorous observations and hope for ordinary life.
It's possible that I've been a reader from the very beginning; if not, then very early on. I remember the baby I was nursing while needing to sit at a desk because I was reading from a big, clunky desktop tower computer that was anything but portable (although I'm pretty sure we finally had a flat-screen monitor).
You and I share both life parallels and life intersections. Which I fervently hope we can chat about one day, in person, on pilgrimage . . .

I read Art of Simple in the early days, still have my highlighted copies of "Notes From a Blue Bike" and "At Home in the World" (which I read before kids and when mine were very small, respectively. I've used your Advent and Lent guides as well as the gratitude journal… I've just always resonated with the peaceful, hospitable environment you create with your words and stories. I think I've been reading The Commonplace for a couple years now? And color me deeply curious about your next non-fiction (as a lifelong Protestant who has always leaned towards liturgy and mysticism). A pilgrimage is a bucket list for me! My husband and I have started to day dream about our twentieth anniversary trip next year. 🙏🏼
I started reading "Simple Mom" when I was unexpectedly pregnant with my #4, after last having a baby a decade before that. I was specifically looking for info on cloth diapers and you hooked me!
You were a guest on the CLT podcast “Anchored”. You talked about a lot of things but what piqued my interest the most was travel. I was driving so I set a reminder on my phone to look you up when I got home.
I think I was on your newsletter before it switched to Substack. I read your travel memoir (spacing on the name) and also your advent devotional. Maybe it was after that one that I joined the newsletter?
In short, providence. What that looks like is attending a Catholic Women's Conference, buying a book and learning the author had a podcast then listening to that podcast where I learned of a Pilgrimage. I traveled on that Pilgrimage and met a host of wonderful women who kept mentioning "Tsh Oxenreider's lent and advent devotionals" then some of them came to the conclusion that a coordinated read along for each of the devotionals during the appropriate seasons should happen so they did. I enjoyed those devotionals so much that when original author/podcaster/Pilgrimage leader shared about your Pilgrimage podcast episode, I learned about the Ireland Pilgrimage and signed up both me and my husband. It was on that Pilgrimage that I learned of the newsletter. The traveling is my most favorite and I plan to do it as long as I can 🙏.
I started out reading Simple Mom when I was looking for ways to live simpler and save money after having our third child (we now have four). I still use some of the cleaning recipes you shared! I bought Organized Simplicity years ago and still refer back to it. I lost track of your writing for a while after the Simple Mom era, but so glad I found on you on Substack.
I read your blog off and on and listened to various iterations of your podcast intermittently as well for years, but truthfully, got 'locked in' as the youth say, when you converted to the Catholic faith. I was just so fascinated by the journey and have been following you 'religiously' (pun intended) since.
